This post-qualifying qualification is designed for counsellors who wish to develop specialist knowledge, skills, and competences to work therapeutically with children and young people aged 11–18.
Next Course Commences:
- Saturday 5th September 2026 – Delivered in person at Kent Wellbeing Hub – 9:30am to 5:00pm and Sunday 6th September 2026 – Delivered online – 9:30am to 5:00pm
- Sessions per year : 20 sessions (one weekend per month)

This specialist qualification is designed to develop the confidence, skills, and ethical awareness needed to work therapeutically with children and young people.
Successful completion of this diploma supports counsellors to confidently expand their professional practice to include working with children and young people, including within school settings.
Our next course will start in September 2026 and will be delivered over 1 weekend a month. Saturday sessions will be in person with the Sunday sessions delivered online as synchronous learning.
120 hours’ guided learning over 1 year (taught as 1 weekend a month)
A minimum of 60 hours formally contracted counselling (one-to-one), with children and young people. The hours are to include client assessment and practice work with at least 4 different clients between the ages of 11-18.
Personal therapy – 20 hours across the whole course
Who the course is for
- Qualified counsellors who have completed a Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling
- Counsellors currently working with adults who wish to extend their practice to include children and young people
- Counsellors working in or alongside school, college, or youth settings
- Practitioners working with adolescents who wish to develop their counselling competence with this age group
